Word Up Life Changers Ministries Purpose
Purpose: The reason for which something exists or is done, made, or used; and intended or desired result; end; aim; goal.
1. What is Word Up Life Changers Ministries (W.U.L.C.M) reason for existing?
2. What are we to be as a church? (Who and what are we?)
3. What are we to do as church? (What does God want done in the world?)
4. How are we to do it?
We saw in the last weeks lesson that the church in general was
to -
(1.) Love the Lord with all our hearts
i.e., Worship
(2.) Go and make disciples i.e.,
Evangelize
(3.) Baptizing i.e.,
Fellowship
(4.) Love your neighbor as yourself
i.e., Ministry
(5.) Teaching them to obey i.e.,
Made Disciples
Scripture References: Matt. 4:10, Matt. 28:19-20, Mark 16:15-16, Lk. 24:47-53, John 20:21, Acts 1:8
These scriptures help answer questions #1 and #3, but who are we as a local church, and how are we to accomplish through our vision what our Lord Jesus Christ wants done in the earth?
We can only answer these questions by understanding Gods vision for our church.
Vision: The act or power of anticipating that which will or may come to be mental sight; Revelation;
Revelation: God's disclosure of himself and His will for his people; something thus communicated or disclosed.
Vision is seeing in the spirit what God wants to come into being. He Himself shows us what should take place in order to build up His People. He reveals the purpose for this local church.
He shows as the end at the beginning! Our actions should be directed toward his purpose when the purpose is revealed.
Vision answers questions#2 and #4 for us because vision defines (#2) What are we to do as a church; and (#4) How are we to do it?
Purpose and Vision show the end results.
Pro. 29:18: Where there is no vision [Revelation of God] the people perish [are unrestrained].
Where there is no revelation from God the people lose control. There is no control where there is no vision. People wont be held in check without a vision.
V. 18: But he that keepeth the law happy is he.
But he who has a vision and keeps it is blessed.
What are we to be as a church? (Who and what are we?)
"Our Vision From God"
Purpose # I: See to it that families know who they are in Christ.
Family = A group of related people or things;
We feel that God can change an entire generation through one family member. We may not be related by blood but we are related through the blood of Christ. Eph. 3:15 Any person that gets saved becomes family and they become the point of contact for God to infiltrate their family line. This is Evangelism. Acts 2:39-47
We equip each family member by:
(A.) Teaching them who they are in God's word.
(B.) By building up a sense of pride in each individual.
(C.) Teaching men, women, and children their place in the home and their obligation to each other.
When we understand this purpose - we will begin to develop ministries that will fill these needs.
Purpose # II: See to it that children are taught from the earliest age possible how to live as Christians and grow into great men and women of God by:
(A.) See that they know the
word and can apply it (the word) to their daily lives.
(B.) Have the children participate in
ministry
(C.) Show teens that they do have a place
in God and ministry.
(D.) Loving them with the deepest love possible.
This purpose calls for us to develop strong youth ministry. We will also have to take an active part in the lives of out youth. Make Disciples
Purpose # III: Having the church know their God. By:
(A.) Study of the Word.
(B.) Having an intimate relationship with
Christ.
This purpose requires that we Fellowship with God. Fellowship with God leads to fellowship with one another.
Purpose # IV: Have a true praise and worship service. By:
(A.) Teaching the musicians
and members that worship is not an option. Worship is an attitude of the
heart and it is a requirement for a good relationship with our God. True
worship ushers in the presence of god. II Chro. 5:11-14.
(B.) Allowing the Spirit of God to
have His way in us as we worship.
(C.) Leading the people to have private
worship in their homes and in their hearts at all times.
This purpose will teach us how to worship in spirit and in truth.
These four purposes give us the five main purposes of the Church. (1) Worship (2) Ministry (3) Evangelism (4) Fellowship (5) Teaching and Discipleship.
From these purposes we get our Vision or Purpose statement. From these purposes we get our goals short and long term).
It is up to the Church to become creative in fulfilling the vision. God placed us together in this church to fulfill His purpose in this time and in this place. You are not here to die, buy your are here to create life. You are here to give out what God has put in you. Dream the dream of God, see the vision of our Lord.
Sunday: We'll provide the Church our Purpose Statement, if that is the Lord's will.
The goals of the church will be shared in the new members class.
